Even though we are in the middle of a pandemic there are still some fun ways to exercise this Labor Day weekend in and around Orlando. There are virtual runs, food festivals and water activities to encourage you to enjoy some exercise over the long holiday weekend. Need some ideas and inspiration for what to do to keep active Labor Day weekend in Orlando? Here are 5 fun ways to exercise over Labor Day Weekend.
Epcot Food & Wine Festival
This year’s festival will take place now through fall. The festival focuses on foods from around the world and marketplaces with different drinks and treats. After sampling your favorite foods, burning it off will be no problem, as the walking distance of the festival is 2.78 miles. Park attendance is managed via the Disney Park Pass reservation system—to enter a park, both a park reservation and valid admission for the same park on the same date are required for guests ages 3 and up.
Most in person runs have been canceled for now, but that doesn’t mean you can’t participate. How about joining a virtual run? You can join runs from virtually anywhere and you still get the t-shirt! Go to Track Shack to see a list of virtual runs you can join.
Go For A Swim
If you’re lucky enough to have a pool in your backyard, swimming is a great form of exercise. Swimming is gentle on your joints and you can stay cool while you exercise this weekend.
Walk on the Beach
We are only about an hour or so from several beaches in Orlando so head over to New Smyrna or Cocoa Beach for the day, but get there early enough to get in a nice walk. The earlier you get to the beach for a walk, the cooler and less crowded it will be. There is usually a nice breeze to accompany your beach walk.
Book A Weekend At A Luxury Resort
Orlando has plenty of amazing hotels and resorts with pools and plenty of activities for everyone. The Waldorf and Four Seasons both have pools to swim laps, golfing facilities and exercise facilities. No matter where you decide to stay, any luxury resort will have amenities for you and your family to stay active this weekend. Many hotels are running specials for Florida residents because they have been hit so hard by the pandemic so this might be the perfect time for a staycation.
